Hi Jeff,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life.

The first thing I recommend is checking for a fault code, this dryer has a test routine you can run that will help in the diagnosis of any problems the control detects. If the control detects a problem it will identify it with an error code. I am including this information in a set of images below. The diagnosis of this issue will require the use of an ohm/volt meter and you will have to perform ohm checks and/or live voltage checks. If you have an ohm/volt meter and are confident in your technical abilities, please utilize the checks below. Always unplug or de-energize electrical equipment before removing covers or attempting service. Be careful and wear appropriate hand protection when working around sharp metal parts.

If you need additional help with your dryer, please reply to this post with more details.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Thanks Landell I am very handy but do not have any ohm/volt meters. After following the instructions and getting it into diagnostics mode It did Flash F:01. I looked at the fault code chart and it says Primary Control Failure. Could this be my problem? The machine does work but my only problem is taking several hours to dry. I did not proceed any further with any other diagnostic tests.

A:

Hi Jeff, You are correct the F01 error does indicate that the main control is defective. The control may be reading the thermistors incorrectly and not turning on the heat at regular intervals. The heater relay is part of the control; it is also a plausible culprit. Without a multimeter there is not much else we could test, and it is very likely that it would end up being the board anyway. I recommend replacing the board. I have included a link to the control below. Let me know if I may be of further assistance. Landell
