Question and Answers

Q:

Igniter does not turn red, meatered ignitor and it shows less than 1 ohm 11097573220 Kenmore Gas dryer

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

I am sorry to hear that the dryer is not igniting. I know how frustrating that is to have happen.

If you find it glowing red and then fading off without any burner ignition, then the failure is weak solenoid coils. The part number for the coils is 279834.

If you do not see any red glow then the failure could be one of the following components:

Timer (inside control panel)

Hi-limit thermostat

Operating thermostat

Thermal fuse

Igniter

Motor centrifugal switch (part of motor)

In order to diagnose the failed component will require disconnecting each one and testing it for continuity using an ohm meter.

If you would feel more confident have a Sears Home Service technician help assist with the diagnosis/repair, you can call 1-800-469-4663, or click here to be directed to the page to set up service.

I hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.

Q:

11097573220 Gas dryer Wiring Diagram? 11097573220 Kenmore Gas dryer

A:

Thank you for the inquiry and for using SearsPartsDirect.com.

Based upon the model number provided of 110.97573220, it appears the manufacture date on this unit was in 1995. Due to the age of about 18 years, we no longer have the wiring diagram available. After an intensive amount of research for the diagram, part number LIT3401726, I was not able to find a copy to provide or another similar model that had one available I could use.

Did you check on the rear panel of the dryer or inside of the cavity? There was a wiring diagram that came equipped with the model, sometimes they are taped on the rear, inside the unit at the base, or between the control panel and body of the unit for technician reference. Outside of that, I don't see any means to locate one for you any longer. I looked online as well based upon the model and part number of the diagram, but didn't see anything generate that would be suitable.

Let me know if I can be of any further assistance. I will check a few other resources and see if I can locate one for you, if so, I will respond back with the attachment. Thanks again for using SearsPartsDirect.com.

Excellent, I am glad it was there for you Marlene. That sure was a tough wiring diagram to try to locate on my side. Usually I am able to find one that works. Make sure you keep it handy for the future if needed, because they are hard to come by.

I had the same thing on a washer repair I did not too long ago. I opened up the control panel to change the push to start switch, and lo and behold, an old wiring diagram. I'm glad it worked out for you and that I was able to help.

Thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com.

Q:

Dryer Doesn't Heat and Tmer Doesn't Run 11097573220 Kenmore Gas dryer

A:

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when there is problems with the dryer not running.

Glad to help out.   Im  looking at your Kenmore model number 110.97573220.

The item to check out before you replace or even think about your timer is the door/lid switch.   When that goes bad the dryer won't run or advance at times for the timer to be effective.   You can check that too with the meter and have a very, very good idea for that to be the problem.

In helping with your dryer.  The first thing to let everyone know is that they must first check there lint screen.  Pull it out and make sure the vent the screen goes into is not plugged.   Next check the vent area where it goes outside the house.   A dryer has to have a free movement of air to prevent heating problems and fire hazzards.

I have lid switch on the link below for model 110.97573220

Thank you Larry. I know the door switch works because the dryer turns on when I close the door and press the start button and stops when I open the door. The dryer tumbles but doesn't heat and the timer doesn't run. I disassembled the dryer about a month ago and cleaned the lint in the chute and around the back and cleaned the vent all the way to the outside, so that should not be the problem. The last time this happened several years ago the problem was the 660036 thermostat. The thermostat checks fine this time, as does the 3392519 thermal fuse. What else can be the problem?

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

Thanks for writting back Marlene,  Sorry that I read your statement wrong and got ahead of myself.

There are 2 items when it comes to the heat to check on first for the gas dryer providing it is lighting at the ignitor.  Right on the back side of the blower is 2 key items to look at.   One is the thermal fuse and the other beside it is the internal thermostat.   It would be wise to check out both of them.

Thermostat for model 110.97573220

Thermal fuse for model 110.9753220

Thank you Larry. This is David, Marlene's husband. I am an electrical engineer and can follow a wiring diagram if I had one. Can you send me a wiring diagram? So far I have checked the Thermostat 660036, the Thermal Fuse 3392519 and the Internal Bias Thermostat 3387134, all of which show zero ohms with an ohmmeter. I have not checked the Radiant Sensor 338906 because I don't see a way to get to it. If you can send me a wiring diagram and instructions to get to the Radiant Sensor, I would appreciate it. Also, if you have any other ideas, let me know. Thanks, David

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

David and Marlene thanks for letting me know and do apologize because for this model I do not see a wiring diagram.

Glad your lid switch was okay but  sure hoped it was the problem since it was the cheaper item to fix and replace.  After that when it comes to the dryer and timer not running will be to replace the timer itself.  You have checked the thermostat and fuse behind the blower.   While its apart when it comes to the heating you can check the heating element itself and the thermostat beside it.

I take it that the ignitor is lighting and staying lit, just not heating?

When it comes to the timing of the cycles it is either the lid switch, the wiring, or the timer.   The lid switch and the wiring can be verified by a meter.   Usually if wire goes bad you can see a bare wire or rehook up to make a tight connection.

If you have further questions please let me know.
