Question and Answers

Q:

Dryer fails to maintain heat 11097565210 Kenmore Gas dryer

A:

Thank You for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com. I do apologize for the delay in answering your question.

The problem is most likely with the gas coils or gas valve since it does heat the one time. If a gas dryer heats at all then the thermal fuse is likely okay. The key to the problem is knowing what the ignitor is doing. There is a small square plug on the left side of the front panel. You can pry this out and visually check if the ignitor continues to glow and click off with no flame. A gas valve can work a cycle or two then stop working. If the ignitor continues to glow and click off with no flame then the gas valve or coils are likely the problem. If can be difficult to determine which is bad since the dryer will heat once. Pull the plug and check what the ignitor is doing and reply with additional details for further assistance.

If you need further assistance, please resubmit your question with additional details. Thanks for visiting SearsPartsDirect.com

I know that it can be very difficult to have your dryer stop working correctly. Make sure that the gas cut-off valve is fully open and that the dryer has adequate gas pressure supplied to it.

If the igniter is not even glowing, I recommend checking the thermal fuse to see if it is blown. If the thermal fuse is okay, you could have one of these failures that would prevent the dryer from heating:

  • Blown thermal cut-off fuse
  • Open high limit thermostat
  • Bad operating thermostat
  • Failed timer contact
  • Bad motor centrifugal switch
  • Failed igniter
  • Open flame sensor
  • Bad gas valve coils
  • Wiring failure between components

You will need to test these parts with an Ohm/Volt meter to find the right one. I would recommend that you schedule service and have a technician do this for you. If you would like to schedule just click on this link: Sears Home Services . If you need further assistance, please reply to this thread. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Q:

Why is my Kenmore gas dryer, model number 110.97565210, started running without pushing start?

A:

Issue: Why is my Kenmore gas dryer, model number 110.97565210, started running without pushing start?

Solution: It is possible for the timer switch to be faulty. I listed another possible cause for dryer to come on by itself.

If you do not open the door at the end of the Automatic, or Auto-Dry cycle, and you have selected WRINKLE GUARD the dryer will come on by itself periodically and tumble the clothes without heat to help prevent wrinkling.

Wrinkle Guard operation:

  • Dryers with WRINKLE GUARD I tumble the load without heat continuously for about 40 minutes unless you open the dryer door
  • Dryers with WRINKLE GUARD II periodically starts and stops the dryer, tumbling the load without heat for about 40 minutes unless you open the dryer door.
  • Dryers with WRINKLE GUARD III periodically starts and stops the dryer, tumbling the load without heat for about 2 1/2 hours unless you open the dryer door.
  • Dryers with WRINKLE GUARD 150 periodically starts and stops the dryer, tumbling the load without heat for 30, 60,90 or 150 minutes (depending on your models options and selections) unless you open the dryer door.

The timer part number is 3392250, available for $76.85. Click here to order.
