Question and Answers

What is the most common problem that would prevent a Kenmore model 110.97210100 dryer from heating?

When a gas dryer suddenly stops heating the most likely cause is an open thermal fuse and I'd suggest checking this first.

The thermal fuse is located on the blower exhaust behind the rear access panel. See the image for a picture of the fuse.

The fuse can be checked with a volt/ohm meter if you have access to one and are comfortable using it. Check resistance across the fuse and if the circuit is open then replace the fuse.

If you do not have access to a meter or know how to use one there is another way to check if the fuse is the problem. With the dryer unplugged remove the two wires off the thermal fuse and join (jump) them together with a small piece of wire. Put a little electrical tap around the connection and don't let it touch anything metal. With caution plug the dryer back in, turn it on, and see if it will heat. If it does then you have found the problem.

Replace the 3392519 thermal fuse right away and don't continue to use the dryer with the fuse bypassed even though it might be tempting to catch up on the laundry.

I hope this information is helpful to you but submit another question with any additional details for further assistance.
