Dryer stopped drying clothes

A:

Having the dryer not working correctly is always frustrating. I did find an article on trouble shooting your gas dryer that may shed some light on what may be happening. I attached the link below. I hope this is useful to you while you wait for your expert to respond.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern, we need to have a working dryer.

Based on the age of your dryer and the symptom, the glow bar igniter has likely failed or possibly the thermal fuse, part #3392519. The glow bar igniter is accessible from the front and the thermal fuse is accessible from the rear. The thermal fuse is mounted on the blower housing with only two wires attached to it.

Before the dryer will attempt to ignite, the glow bar igniter must glow red hot. Remove the lower access panel and then start the dryer and watch for a bright red glow. If you find it glowing red and then fading off without any burner ignition, replace the two solenoid coils (key#13 and 14) sitting on top of the gas valve assembly (key#10), part #279834.

If the glow bar igniter (key#4) is not glowing, disconnect the power cord from the power source and then remove and test the igniter for continuity using an OHM meter. If the igniter does not have any continuity, replace the igniter, part #279311.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
