Q:

air dry setting 11096573220

A:

Thank you for being Sears’ valued member and for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com with your question about your Kenmore dryer model 11096573220. I am so sorry the dryer is getting hot during the air dry cycle. I know some items can be ruined by even the smallest amount of heat and I am sure you want to get this fixed as soon as possible. I will be happy to help you with this.

Since you have indicated you have already checked for a lint build up, I recommend you test the heating element next. It is possible that the element has grounded out. (This means it is touching the inside of the heater box.)SAFETY WARNING: Disconnect the power supply to the dryer before you begin this test to prevent the risk of electrical shock. You can test the element with a multi-meter. Use the highest setting on the meter. Test from one of the terminals to ground for continuity. If the meter shows continuity the element needs to be replaced. Be sure to also check the wires for damage and replace if necessary.

If the element is fine, then the next parts to check will be the thermostats. Again, be sure the power supply is disconnected. Detach the thermostat wires (make note of how they are attached for easy hook up later). Use the multi-meter to test the ohms on the thermostat. It should read 0. An infinity reading means the thermostat has failed.

If you are not comfortable completing these tests you can set up service atwww.SearsHomeServices.com or by calling 1-800-469-4663. I hope this answers your question. Thank you for choosing Sears, we appreciate your business.
