Dryer Drum not working 110.96573100

I know that it can be very frustrating to have issues with your dryer. The most likely cause of your dryer drum not turning is if the drum belt has come off. You can open the dryer door & turn the drum by hand, if it spins very easily then your belt has come off the drum. To gain access you will need to follow these steps:

  • First unplug or disconnect power to the dryer.
  • Remove the lint filter to access & remove two screws.
  • Use a putty knife to release the 2 clips between the top & front panel located 3-4 inches from each corner. The clips can also be released by reaching back to the rear of the top panel & forcing the top forward while also lifting up on the top panel just enough to clear the clips.
  • Lift the top up & stabilize it far enough up to be able to access the screws securing the front panel to the sides, the screws are located about 3-4 inches from the top, one on each side.
  • Separate the front panel far enough to remove the door switch wiring, this will be a plug type of connection.
  • Lift the front panel off the lower clips & set it to the side out of the way.
  • You can now inspect if the belt has come off or needs to be replaced.

To replace the belt:

  • Leave the drum in location. Do not pull it off the rear drum rollers.
  • Position the new belt around the drum with the grooves facing down.
  • Position the idler pulley in the slots on the base of the dryer so the idler wheel is on the left side of the motor pulley.
  • feed a looped portion of the belt under the idler pulley by lifting up on the pulley & placing the belt around the motor pulley. The grooves of the belt should match the grooves of the motor pulley.
  • Position the drum level & rotate counter clockwise using both hands to align the belt, be careful of the sharp metal edges on each side.
