Question and Answers

Q:

Dryer was running and than just stopped and won't restart. 11096566400 Kenmore Electric dryer

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect. I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when your dryer stops working. I did look into the model number you have provided and I have found information to assist you.

There are multiple parts taht could cause a dryer to stop working. The thermal fuse, thermal cut-off, thermostat, or the push to start, or latch.

I would recommend checking the thermal fuse first because that is the most common part to shut down your dryer.

If you have an ohms/volt meter you can test these parts for the proper continuity. To test the parts, disconnect both wires from the components and test them at room temperature. The ohms reading for these components should be zero ohms. If the high limit thermostat is faulty, then replace the thermal cut-off as well and vice versa. The two components work together and come as a kit.

Let me know if this helps.

Q:

Changing a Dryer Drive Belt on Model 11096566400 11096566400 Kenmore Electric dryer

A:

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when there are repairs to be done on the dryer.

Glad to help out.   Im  looking at your Kenmore model number 110.96566400

I should be able to help you replace the belt on your dryer. First, you need to unplug the dryer and put on a pair of gloves. The inside metal parts of the dryer can be sharp. Then follow the steps below.

  • Remove the lint screen.
  • Remove the two screws in the top under the screen.
  • Pull the top forward to clear the two clips along the front. Then lift the top.
  • Remove the two screws securing the front panel.
  • Unplug the door switch harness and remove the front panel.
  • Lift the drum out of the cabinet and clean the inside of the cabinet with a vacuum.
  • Place a few drops of light oil on the roller shafts before reassembly.

I have also added a few images below, showing the steps for replacing the belt.

If you have further questions please let me know.

Thanks for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com
