Q:

What might be wrong with my Kenmore model 110.92822100 dryer when it takes forever to dry and doesn't seem hot enough even though the exhaust is clear and clean?

A:

The thermistor might be the problem but if the dryer heats at all then the thermal fuse is okay. If the thermal fuse is open then the dryer will not heat at all.

The drying times seem a little long but the best thing to do is remove the vent hose and check the temperature of the exhaust air. You would need a thermometer with a range of 100 degrees to 200 degrees to check this. Any thermometer with that range will work.

On a high heat cycle and with the vent hose off check the temperature in the exhaust air as it blows out. The temperature should go up to about 160 degrees and then cycle down to about 135 degrees.

If you get this range then most likely the dryer is heating okay at least with the vent hose off. You say the vent is clear but how long the vent is and how many elbows it has is important also.

Long dry times can also be caused by a poor spin cycle in the washer.

Before taking anything apart or replacing any parts I'd suggest you try another medium load with the vent hose off and see if it will dry any better.

Gas dryers are more susceptible to vent restrictions than electric dryers. A small restriction might cause the flame to spread out and cycle off the hi-limit thermostat instead of the thermistor.

Check the temperatures in the exhaust air and submit another question with any additional details for further assistance with this problem.

Q:

Kenmore QE3 Gas Dryer (2003) 11092822100 Heats then stops heating

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Based on your symptom and details, I suspect the two gas solenoid on the gas valve are getting weak and not able to open the gas valve once the coils get hot on your Kenmore gas dryer model 110.92822100

If you find the glow bar igniter glowing red and then fading off without burner ignition, replace both solenoid coils and your dryer will most likely ignite every time and dry normally again.

The coil kit consists of both solenoid coils. The part number of the coil kit is 279834 which can be ordered from Searpartsdirect.com

NOTE: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before removing the front lower access panel.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.
