Question and Answers

Q:

What do I use to unclog the fabric dispenser on my Kenmore top load washer?

A:

The best way to clean out fabric softener from the dispenser is hot water.

A model number would help my give you a more specific answer. Most dispensers can be removed and cleaned.

Remove the standpipe covers and clean them with hot water.

For build up inside the tub there is tub cleaner available called Washer Magic that will clean the tub and sump out which is available from most lock grocery store.

Flushing the fabric softener with hot water will most likely clean the dispenser out.

I hope this information is helpful to you but submit another question with any additional details and a model number for further assistance.

Hot water was the first thing I tried. It helped some; however, we have hard water here and that has complicated the problem. I believe some of the fabric softener has bonded to the hard water residue. After using hot water, I tried filling it with white vinegar and letting it soak 24 hours. That did not help much either. I can see brown-black flecks in the bottom of it. The model is 110.28802890. There is no fabric softener stuck in the washer itself, only in the dispenser.

Thanks for contacting ManageMyLife.com. I understand how important it is to have the manual for your items. I've done some research and found this manual is no longer available due to the age of the washer. Generally, manuals for items manufactured before 2000 won't be available. It also doesn't show to be available for purchase through SearsPartsDirect.com . Sorry for any inconvenience.

Please feel free to let me know if you need further assistance.

Thank you for using ManageMyLife.com.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

To access and replace the water level pressure switch and air hose, the console must be placed in the service position and the cabinet must be taken off. Once you have the console placed in the service position, remove the plastic cover you will find on the left side exposing the dispenser hoses leading to the dispensers. Once you have the hoses disconnected leading to the dispensers, the cabinet can be tilted forwards and walked out of the way. I added a couple of images below to reference. One shows how to remove the water level switch and the other shows how to remove the cabinet. NOTE: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before servicing placing the console in the service position.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.
