Question and Answers

Q:

What would cause my washer motor to run for a few seconds and then stop for a minute or longer?

A:

I do not have enough details in order to say what is causing the motor to stop and restart after a minute or so later. You did not indicate how it operates when you change the Agitate/Spin to a different setting.

You could be experiencing a motor failure, a wash action switch failure, timer failure or a loose wire connection.

The motor has a thermal overload protector built inside and when the motor overheats it will open and shut off the motor and it will not restart until the motor cools down. This type of failure will require a volt/ohm meter to diagnose the failure.

I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your washer.

Q:

Can I easily replace the fuse on my Kenmore washer model 110.92583200?

A:

I have checked the wiring diagram of your washer and it does not have a fuse inside of the washer. If you are referring to the fuse in the house fuse box then you can change that. When you are looking at the fuse, you will see a burnt or blackened area inside the glass of a bad fuse. Just unscrew the old fuse and replace it with the same amp-rating fuse. If the fuse is going bad when the washer is started, the washer will require some electrical testing. Electrical testing requires a volt ohmmeter. In most cases, it is best to call a service technician. If you would like further assistance, please resubmit your question.
