Hello,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life. I know how frustrating it can be when appliances do not function properly.

I no longer have access to technical information on this washer. I looked up the part number for the motor and every place I found this motor, it is called a 2 speed motor. On a 2 speed motor the slow speed is the same in Gentle and Regular cycles. The Gentle cycle pauses during the agitation unlike the Regular agitation cycle. If you had a 3 speed motor then the slow Gentle cycle will be slower than the slow Regular cycle.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Here is a link that you may use to view the parts list diagram and for parts purchases; Sears Parts Direct .

Thanks again for using Manage My Life.

If the washer will fill and agitate and it will drain water but not spin could indicate a clutch failure or a basket drive failure. Now, if the motor will not run in order to drain and spin could indicate a loose wire connection, speed switch failure, timer or motor failure. It can be very difficult to pin point the failure if you do not have the correct tools and knowledge of operation.

Based on your symptom I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your washer.

To schedule repair, we have both www.SearsHomeServices.com or you may contact Sears Home Services at 1-800-424-2047.

Thank you for providing a good description of the symptoms. Yes, you are correct to suspect the drive coupler. I am sending you a link that explains step by step how to replace the drive coupler. NOTE: this model does not have console endcaps; remove the screws located in each corner going down at a 45 degree angle to access the console. After reviewing the directions you will know if this is a job you can handle or not. If you need further assistance please get back with us on this.

How do I replace the motor coupling on my Kenmore washer?

The first responder's link is also helpful.
