Thank you for your question.

The water level switch operates off air pressure. On the side of the tube, there is an air dome. When the water level in the washer raises so does the pressure in the air dome. The pressure switch has a hose that comes from the air dome and pushes on a diaphragm in the switch. Once the diaphragm is pushed so far, it opens the contacts to stop the flow of water and closes the contact to run the motor. If the washer is over flowing check the integrity of the air dome and the hose of those are, fine the problem is likely a failed pressure switch. You will need an ohmmeter to make sure.
