Question and Answers

Q:

KENMORE WASHER WON'TFILL.

A:

It sounds like it might be a compound issue. I have included two links below that give slightly different information on the subject. The timer issue may well be linked as part of the problem. One of our experts should get back to you within a day or two. Until then, I hope this is helpful and have a nice day.

I can understand how important it is to have your washer working properly. From what you are describing it sounds like you have a shorted or malfunctioning control board. This is what tells the washer when to enter and complete the cycles. In order to determine is this is the problem you will need to test the pins on the board. This will require an ohm meter and you will be looking for continuity of 120 volts. If you don't feel comfortable doing this yourself, just click on this link to schedule service: Sears Home Services . I hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please reply to this thread. Thank you for your question.

I will be happy to assist you. The tubs that are white porcelain coated have a lifetime warranty. The warranty will cover the part but not the labor. I would estimate the labor would be about $160.00. If your model has this type basket, you can call 1-800-469-4663 to set up service at your home.

I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

i bought a warranty for my high efficiency washer during this past year and have to search my files to see what coverage remains. I was quite sure the service man said any parts and labor would be covered for a long time to come, though i can't remember the exact terms. I had a telemarketer call tonight offering to extend my coverage for a year but i was rather frustrated because i was sure the warranty had not yet expired. Can you look up what coverage is available if any? I know i paid over $300 for the "Smart Agreement" and was entitled to an "extended package deal" the model # is 11045872400/s#CSR4504722.

Jean,
I will be happy to assist you. The washer has an extended warranty on the spin basket and the outer tub. The spin basket is covered for life and the plastic tub has a 10 year warranty. If these parts fail, Sears will cover the parts but you have to pay for labor. It looks like this unit came out in 2004 therefore you have roughly 2 years left on the plastic tub warranty.

The service smart agreement covers the first repair and gives you a year warranty on the washer. It will cover any repair under normal use. If the control fails, it is covered. If you did not have the agreement you would have to part for that repair. On average, the repair cost of a control is $300.00. I suspect you are getting close to the time for the agreement to expire. They will call you before it runs out to see if you would like to extend it.

Due to the cost of the electronic parts on todays appliances, I recommend having the extend warranty. I am able to repair all the appliances I have but due to parts cost I have agreements on most of my appliances. The reason I do not have it on all of my appliances, is because I want to replace the original appliances that came with the house.
I hope this is helpful. Please let me know what you find.
