Q:

Dryer burner does not ignite 11087870100 Kenmore Dryer

A:

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when there is trouble with the dryer.

Glad to help out.   Im  looking at your Kenmore model number 110.87870100.

If you are turning the dryer on and you don't hear the "click" then you are needing a new ignitor on your burner system. If the ignitor is on but not staying on then you need to put in some new coils that come in a kit.   Sometimes when you change the ignitor people go ahead and put in new coils also because there down there to do it and these coils go bad any given moment after the ignitor does.   Just something to think about.

ignitor per model 110.87870100

coil kit per model 110.87870100

Q:

What is making my Kenmore dryer, model number 11087870100 to burn and rip clothes? 11087870100

A:

I know that it can be very difficult to have issues with your dryer. I'm not sure there are any bad parts to change. I'm more suspicious of the air flow. The flame should be concise and mostly blue with very little yellow. If the vent has a restriction then the flame will become lazy and spread out with more yellow shown. If the dryer is new to you then was it may be set up for LP gas and not natural gas. If the flame is not burning all the gas then it will most likely be an air flow problem and not a valve or coil problem. Poor drum seals may cause a problem. The room the dryer sets in must be well ventilated. Leave the door to the laundry room open and see if it helps. You might try a load with the vent hose removed and see if there is any improvement. If you don't feel comfortable doing this yourself, please click on the link to schedule service: Sears Home Services.
