Q:

Power On, Drum will not turn 11087737701 Kenmore Elite Residential dryer

A:

Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com. It is unfortunate to hear that you are having issues with your dryer and do understand your frustration. Glad to help out. Im looking at your model number 11087737701 and the first thing to check would be the drive system on the unit, chances are the drive belt has broken or come off the drive pulley. Check the pulley for any wear and that it freely spins.

If the drive system checks out with the belt in tact, still on the pulleys, with no visable wear, you will want to check to see if the motor is working. Having a multimeter will be critical for checking the motor. The first thing to do is put your hands inside the dryer and grab the fins. Turn the dryer a few times and if it is turning then that is good, if not then most likely it is a bearing that went bad.

If the dryer is on but not moving also then you will need to check out the lid switch.  These are the items you will want to check, the belt, the support rollers, and the motor. If you hear any humming as if the motor is trying to work, it may be a faling motor or something causing the motor not turn freely. I hope this information helps with your troubleshooting. If you have further questions please resubmit your question for further information.
