Question and Answers

Q:

Why is my gas dryer not heating correctly?

A:

After the flame goes out & tries to come back on, if the igniter comes on & goes off without lighting the burner, I would recommend replacing the gas valve coils. If the igniter does not come back on, I would recommend checking the voltage at the flame sensor. Be sure the drum & front are in position before testing.

Q:

What would cause my gas dryer burner to cycle off after one minute of operation?

A:

First, make sure you do not have the door open or the front panel off while running the dryer. Also make sure that you do not have a restricted vent system. If there is not adequate air flow through the dryer and heater duct the flame will short cycle OFF from the High limit thermostat (key#34) which is located on heater duct (key#5). You also have two operating thermostats located on the blower housing (key#44). Key#6 is the low temperature thermostat which opens at 150 degrees and key#40 is the 150 degree operating thermostat. Any of these thermostats can cause the flame to cycle off when the thermostat contact opens.

If the flame ignites each time the igniter glows, the coils are OK.
