Question and Answers

Q:

Will replacing the heating element fix my dryer?

A:

There is a chance that the heating is burnt out, but there are several other components that could fail and prevent the dryer from producing heat.

The dryer can run but not heat if one of the two breakers has tripped dedicated for the dryer. The first thing to try is to locate both breakers dedicated for the dryer and flip both breakers OFF and back ON 2-3 times and then check the operation of the dryer. NOTE: The breakers will be in you house breaker box which could be located in the garage or outside where the electrical meter is located.

Possible causes of no heat:

  • Heating element
  • Timer
  • Operating thermostat
  • High limit thermostat
  • Motor centrifugal switch
  • Burnt wire or connection

I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your dryer.
