From the description you give I suspect the problem might be the door switch.

The console will light up even if the door switch is bad but it won't run.

The image below will help you access the door switch.

Remember to unplug the dryer first.

The terminals with the blue and white wires should show a circuit when the door is closed. The brown wire operates the drum light.

The switch can be checked with an ohm meter for continuity.

If a switch is needed you can get one at the following link: Sears PartsDirect .

You can reply with any additional details or questions for further assistance.

I got the switch in the mail today. How do I get the front off to hook up the wire on the inside. My switch is on the top of the hole and not on the bottom like in the diagram.

Ok, we figured out how to get the top off and replaced it but it still doesn't work. It makes a clicking sound when it beeps in side the metal box on the top where you plug it in, closer to the back of the control panel box.

If an electric dryer doesn't run then the problem can be with the control relay, thermal fuse, broken belt , door switch or bad motor. The door switch didn't help. If you have a meter then I'd suggest checking the thermal fuse next. The clicking you hear is most likely the relay on the control. The thermal fuse is located in the front of the dryer behind the lower access panel.

I pulled the thermal fuse and the thermal resistor. Using a regular tester, it appears the fuse is bad. But do I need to heat it up to test???

If the fuse tested bad then it is most likely the reason the dryer is not running. The fuse can be obtained from the following link: ll provide instructions.

When my dryer didn't work, I replaced the thermal fuse. The fuse is part #3392519. I found it on AppliancePartsPros.com for $9. Got it in two days. I also replaced the thermal cut-off. They are both in the vent tube going out to your vent. You have to pop the two screws off the bottom panel below the dryer door to get to it. On the dryer vent chute, you will see four wires. The two blue ones go to the thermal fuse. The red and black go to the thermal cut-off. Also remember to clean the lint tube venting to the outside of the house. Note to "Rich" - You do not need to heat up to test. If the thermal fuse is open, it's bad. Same for thermal cut-off.
