Question and Answers

Q:

dyrer has no no heat what would be the cause. i see no heating elements on the parts diagram. 11085091401 Kenmore Residential dryer

A:

Thank You for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com. I do apologize for the delay in answering your question.

For an electric dryer, first, there are two designated breakers in the breaker box that supply the voltage to the dryer. The dryer can run, but won't heat if one of the 2 breakers is tripped. If one of the breakers are flipped, please re-flip both breakers to see if the dryer will start heating.

There are several components wired in series between the timer and one side of the heating element that should all be closed. The heating element is shown on the bulkhead diagram and it is key number 14. (part 3387747)

Timer contact BK to BU

Thermal cut-off (thermal fuse)

Operating thermostat

High limit thermostat

Motor centrifugal switch not closing 2M to 1M. Once the motor starts to supply the L2 voltage to other side of the heating element.

NOTE: Please disconnect power to the dryer before disassembly or checking any parts.

If you need further assistance, please resubmit your question with additional details. Thanks for visiting SearsPartsDirect.com

Q:

Dryer still running hot, no matter the setting 11085091401 Kenmore Residential dryer

A:

Thank you for your inquiry on your Kenmore Dryer, Model: 110.85091401. From reviewing the details on your model, the thermal cutoff is a safety device. If the heating element shorts out to ground the thermal cutoff will kill power to the heating element to prevent it from overheating. I recommend checking the heating element. Other possibilities; cycling thermostat or blocked venting.

Safety Warning: Before beginning the repair, disconnect the direct power supply to the dryer to prevent the risk of injury or any electrical shock.

If you don’t feel comfortable or confident in this repair, then you can have it repaired at home by a sears technician. I have the included a link to the website: Sears Home Services or call 1-800-469-4663.

I hope this answered your question. Thank you for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com, and have yourself a wonderful day.
