Thank You for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com

I understand your frustration when your dryer isn't heating. Based on the information you have provided there can be multiple reason why the drum isn't heating. I have attached a couple images on how to put your dryer into diagnostic mode to help us narrow down the possibilities. You can inspect the heating element and look for breaks in the heating coils. But this problem might also be from a thermostate or fuses.

Once the diagnostic mode is completed please let me know what the results are so I can assist you further with this issue.

Thanks for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com

Q:

My electric dryer has power but will not come on? 11084821300 Kenmore Electric dryer

A:

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when there is problems with the dryer.

Glad to help out.   Im  looking at your Kenmore Dryer model number 11084821300.

First thing for safety and concerns to keep dryer running well is to check the lint screen and vent of air flow going out of the house.   If clogged up it could cause heating problems on any dryer.

To prevent a Blocked Vent Hood, once a year:

1.  Clean any lint blockage from the exhaust vent hood.
2.  Make sure the vent hood flappers move freely.
3.  Check for screen/grate openings that allow bird or rodent nests.
4.  Replace exhaust vent hood if damaged.
5.  Check for good air flow while running the dryer.
Note: Poor airflow or decreased airflow indicates further vent system cleaning is needed.

Turn the circuit breaker off for about 5 minutes, fuse for the dryer.   That helps reset the dryer.

When a dryer doesn't start there are a few items to check.   It can be done if you have a multimeter.

1.  Check the plug and wall socket.   Make sure the connections of the plug isn't loose.

2.  Run a multi meter to the lid switch.   It is usualy the case almost 75 percent of the time when it won't start.

3.  Check the thermal fuse and the thermostat beside it.  IT is on the back side of the dryer.

4.  The other check to make will require a volt meter and someone comfortable using it. At some point live voltage will need to be checked from 4M on the motor to 6M at start and from 4M to 5M on the motor. If there is 120 volts then the motor is likely bad.
