If the washer will drain and spin then the lid switch and motor and belt are okay.

The clicking noise may be difficult to pin down. This may be the time to think about replacing this museum piece.

A similar washer can be purchase brand new for approximately $349 dollars.

Since the washer will agitate but not spin I'd start by checking the wig wag or control magnet. This part contains to solenoids that energize to lift a cam bar to move a slide to enable spin and agitation.

This was a common enough failure but unfortunately this part along with most all the other parts for this washer or no longer available.

I would advise you to do a little shopping this week to replace this washer.

I was afraid you might say that. It's weird, because if I put it on the "suds" setting it agitates fine and I can't stop it by holding it. Once it goes into the regular wash cycle sometimes it agitates and sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes if I stop the washer and restart it works, and sometimes I stop the washer and rotate the agitator a little and it works.

I suspect the problem is with the cam bars and plunder but most all parts are no longer available . Most labor and service will cost in the $129 dollar range. Even a simple repair might run $200 dollars. I still say it is time for replacement.
