Question and Answers

Q:

Replaced the timer and cloths do not spin dry on the permanent press cycle only 11082980110 Kenmore Automatic washer

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I will be happy to help with your washer. Upon researching model 11082980110; does it not spin at all during the permanent press cycle? I do see there is a microcomputer that could be malfunctioning. I linked the diagram below. The microcomputer is number 22 in the diagram. The agitation and spin cycle in the permanent press is gentler than other cycles. If putting jeans or towels things of heavier material the permanent press will not spin out enough water.

Thank you for choosing Sears. We appreciate your business. Have a great day.

Q:

It won't spin. Just hums. 11082980110 Kenmore Automatic washer

A:

Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com and being a valued member. It is unfortunate to hear that you are having issues with your washer and I do understand your frustration. Glad to help out. I'm looking at your model number 11082980110 and from your description I suspect that the motor coupler that attaches the motor and the gearcase may have failed. If the coupler is broken or damaged the motor will spin freely and will not spin the gearcase. Here is a link for a video that will help with the repair. I have included a link to our Parts Direct page where you can purchase the part you need to complete your repair. Just click the blue link above to be taken to the page. I trust this information will help you.

Thank you for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Your model washer does not have an off balance kick-out switch. I suspect the problem is with the lid switch, lid switch actuator or the lid is not staying shut enough to trip and close the lid switch. If the lid is opened during any drain or spin cycle, the motor will shut off. I recommend checking the lid switch operation.

In order to access the lid switch will require taking the washer cabinet off. I added an image below showing how to remove the cabinet. NOTE: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before servicing.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.
