Q:

washer noise 11082881810 Kenmore Automatic washer

A:

Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com. I regret to hear that you are having issues with your washer and do understand your frustration. Glad to help out. Im looking at your model number 11082881810 and from your description I suspect that the motor or the pump is failing. The washer does not have many moving parts that would make a loud noise, the pump is possibly going bad or the motor also may be going out. I recommend removing the cabinet and try listening and watching the moving parts and verify what part is actually causing the noise. I hope this information helps with your troubleshooting.  Just click the blue link above to be taken to the page. If you have further questions please resubmit your question for further information.

Thank you for your help. This Kenmore machine has been a wonderful appliance. It has lasted 23 years! Maybe it just couldn't go another day and it's time to buy a new one!! It's really NOT worth having a service guy come out to repair it! However, I'm still waiting to see if an expert thinks I can easily fix it now.

Hello,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life. I know how frustrating it can be when appliances do not function properly.

The most likely cause of this issue is clogged inlet valve (part number 285805) screens. To check this unplug your washer, turn the water faucets off and remove the hoses at the back of your washer. Inside each of the inlet valves where the hoses connect are some screens that typically get clogged with ward water minerals. Occasionally the hose will have a screen in it as well. If the screens are clear the valves are probably bad. If you have a meter you can ohm them. Here is a video that will show you how to check the inlet valves Video . The valves in this washer should ohm approximately 500 to 800 ohms.

The remaining checks will require the use of an ohm/volt meter and you will have to perform ohm checks and/or live voltage checks. If you have a meter and are confident in your ability to safely perform these checks, reply to this post and I will be happy to assist you in any way I can.

Here is a link that you may use to view the parts list diagram and for parts purchases; Sears Parts Direct .

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Thanks again for using Manage My Life.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

The fabric dispenser assembly is not designed to come apart for cleaning. To clean the dispenser, remove the dispenser from the agitator and take it to your kitchen sink and flush it out with HOT water. If needed, let it soak for a while in a tub of hot water and then shake it and rinse it out again with hot water. Repeat if necessary. Note: It's also recommended to dilute the fabric softener first before pouring it into the dispenser if the fabric softener is too thick.
