Q:

What would cause my washer to quit draining and spinning after it shook?

A:

You're symptom indicates a broken lid switch or a broken lid switch actuator. If the lid switch fails to close when the lid is shut, the motor is not going to operate in any of the drain and spin cycles.

If the lid switch (key#11) and lid switch actuator (key#12) is OK you should hear a faint click when the lid is almost fully closed. If you do not hear the faint click the lid switch actuator is most likely broken.

To access the lid switch the washer cabinet must be removed.

  • Remove the screw located at the bottom of each console end cap.
  • Slide the console forwards and then hinge it open as shown in the first image.
  • Follow the procedure in the last image to remove the cabinet.
  • Once the cabinet has been removed you will have access to the lid switch.
