Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Your model washer does not have a drive belt. The motor is connected to the gear case with a motor coupler. If the washer will agitate, the motor coupler is Okay.

Based on your symptom, the clutch assembly is likely worn. Also, the washer should drain all the water out before the basket should begin spinning. It should not begin spinning with a full tub of water.

If your feel confident in replacing the clutch assembly I added a YouTube video showing how to access and replace the clutch assembly . The clutch for Kenmore model 110.82872800 is available to order from Sears Parts Direct.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Q:

How can I repair a slow cold water fill on an older model Sears washing machine?

A:

The likely failure is a restricted filter screen inside the water inlet valve on the back of the washer. When you remove the cold water fill hose from the inlet valve on the back of the washer look inside the threaded portion the hose wash threaded onto. There is filter screen pushed inside that is likely covered in debris. I do not recommend removing the filter screen for cleaning. I recommend replacing the water inlet valve assembly. If you remove and clean the filter screen debris could get inside the diaphragm and cause the water valve to not shut off and cause a flood. The water inlet valve part#285805.

In order to access the water inlet valve to remove and replace will require removing the washer cabinet.

  1. Disconnect the power cord from the power source.
  2. Remove each screw (key#6) located at the bottom of each console end cap.
  3. Slide the console towards you and the lift it up and let it hinge over the rear panel. (See images below for further instructions)
  4. Once the cabinet has been removed and set aside you will have access to the water inlet valve to remove and replace. (Valve#285805) The valve can be ordered at Sears Parts Direct. NOTE: I added the link to Sears Parts Direct below with the valve looked up.
