You indicate that the washer will not spin. If it does not agitate or spin, then you could have a broken belt if the motor is running in those modes.  Check the drive belt in that situation.

A problem with the motor, the wiring or a number of other components could prevent the washer from spinning if it does agitate. Does the motor run in the spin mode?

I can understand how important it is to have the right information for your washer. However, due to the age of the washer, the manual for it is no longer available. I check within my system and all of our other resources, but was not able to locate a copy of it. I did find a copy of the service manual.  This however, is not free to download, you will need to purchase it.  If you would like to order this, just click on this link: Service Manual. I hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please reply to this thread. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Yes, I did see the service manual for the washer, but I have no plans to repair this machine if it breaks, so it is hardly worth the money for the service manual. All I really want to know is how the pre-soak and pre-wash cycles on this machine work. This is a fairly standard Kenmore washer from that vintage (I even recall that my mother had one similar to this around that time), so I am hoping someone could simply answer the question based on general knowledge, without trying to find an old service manual. My main question being: would someone add detergent to these pre-soak or pre-wash cycles?

A:

On this type of washer, yes you would set up your machine like you are running a normal wash cycle. This will include the detgerent, fabric softener and bleach (if needed). The machine will stop on the pre-soak or pre-washer cycles for a certian amount of time. It will then continue with the cycle as normal. Please let me know if you need anything else. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Hi,

Thanks for contacting ManageMyLife. I understand how frustrating it is having trouble with your appliance not working.

The holes in the timer are self-threading.  And the jumper is going to be installed per the directions with the timer.  The pink is the pressure switch and if it is not connected the motor will not start or run.

Please feel free to let me know if you need further assistance. We are always here to help.

Thank you for using ManageMyLife.com.

Bill
