Question and Answers

Q:

Why is my Kenmore washer not draining or spinning?

A:

From what you’re describing it sounds like the pump is seized-up. If the pump seizes up the belt will be moving but the pulley to the pump will not. This also explains the friction smell & why the unit won’t spin. You can confirm the diagnosis by looking closely at the pump pulley while the unit is running to see if the pulley is stalled out. You can access & replace the pump by tilting the unit up in the front. Be sure to siphon out all of the water before removing the pump hoses.
