Sometimes the glow bar igniter can glow but not get hot enough to ignite the gas. I would suggest changing the glow bar igniter and it should solve your issue.

Jeff, thanks for your reply. I did not think it was the glow bar igniter because if you let the dryer cool off ( 2hours) it would relight again no problem but never relight again unless it cooled off. I changed the two coils on the gas valve and its works fine now. Thanks Paul

Q:

Burner ignites, then shuts off, not sure what needs replacing 11078622700 Kenmore Residential dryer

A:

Thank you for being a Sears' valued member and for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com with your question about your Kenmore Gas Dryer model 11072212100. I am so sorry the burner is shutting off. I know how quickly laundry can pile up when the dryer isn’t working so I know you want to get this fixed quickly. I will be happy to help you with this.

A dryer needs both heat and air flow to dry clothes. There are a few issues that could cause the dryer to shut off before the cycle is complete. In this case, since the dryer starts and then shuts off, I recommend you check the vent system. A clogged vent will cause the safety features of the dryer to shut it off to prevent a fire.   A good way to test for a clogged vent is to turn on the dryer and go outside to check the flow of air coming from the vent. If there is little or no air flow, you have lint clogging the vent system. It is important to clean out the vent regularly. Over time, a clogged vent can decrease the dryer’s efficiency, but more importantly, it could activate safety devices that prevent the dryer from catching fire. The safety devices cannot be reset so any safety device that has been tripped will have to be replaced before the dryer will heat up again.

If the vent system is clear, then the next step would be to test the thermostats and the thermal fuse. There is one thermostat on the side of the heater box. The other thermostat and the thermal fuse are on the blower housing. These are parts that can be tested with a multi-meter. If you are not comfortable conducting these types of tests on a gas dryer, you can set up service atwww.SearsHomeServices.com or by calling 1-800-4MY-HOME (1-800-469-4663.

I hope this answers helps. If you need further assistance, please resubmit your question with additional details. Thank you for choosing Sears, we appreciate your business.

Q:

Kenmore 600 rotates but does not heat up is it a thermal fuse and how many fuse need to be replaced 11078622700 Kenmore Residential dryer

A:

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when a dryer doesn't heat up.

Glad to help out.   Im  looking at your Kenmore Dryer model number 11078622700

First thing for safety and concerns to keep dryer running well is to check the lint screen and vent of air flow going out of the house.   If clogged up it could cause heating problems on any dryer.

To prevent a Blocked Vent Hood, once a year:

1.  Clean any lint blockage from the exhaust vent hood.
2.  Make sure the vent hood flappers move freely.
3.  Check for screen/grate openings that allow bird or rodent nests.
4.  Replace exhaust vent hood if damaged.
5.  Check for good air flow while running the dryer.
Note: Poor airflow or decreased airflow indicates further vent system cleaning is needed.

All items can be checked with a volt meter for continuity.

When a gas dryer isn't heating there are a few things to look at.

In the burner system you have

1.  The ignitor key number 4 on burner page

2.  The pair of coils 13 & 14 on burner page

Behind the blower there is

3.  The thermistor key number 41 on blower page

4.  The thermal fuse  key number 39 on blower page.

Ignitor page for model number
