Question and Answers

Q:

Kennmore Dryer model 11077974130 runs but does not heat -

A:

If a gas dryer is running but not heating the most likely cause of the problem is an open thermal fuse.

The fuse can be accessed by removing the rear panel of the dryer. See the image below for a picture of this. Remember to unplug the dryer first.

The 3390719 thermal fuse can be checked for continuity/resistance if you have access to a volt/ohm meter and are comfortable using it.

Without a meter the thermal fuse can be bypassed for a moment to see if it is the problem. With the dryer unplugged you can remove the two wires from the thermal fuse and join them together with a small piece of insulated wire. With the fuse bypassed you can see if the dryer will heat. If the dryer heats then replace the thermal fuse right away. Don't try and catch up on the laundry with the fuse bypassed.

I hope this information is helpful to you in resolving this problem. Submit another question with any additional details for further assistance.
