Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

The new replacement heating element comes supplied with two red wires and two wire nuts, you must cut the old wire connections connected to the old element and use the new red wires and wire nuts and slice the wires in so they will connect to the new element.

You do not need to order a new wire harness to adapt the old wires to the new element. Use the two wires and the two wire nuts that came supplied with the new heating element.

Key #12, is not the wire(s) that would connect to the heating element. The main wire harness has the wires that connect to the heater.

Part# 279054 is the high limit thermostat. Use the two terminals that measures continuity. The high limit should be closed in order to complete the circuit through the high limit. Use terminals 1 and 3 as long as the orange wire in the resistor circuit is connected between 3 and one lead of the heating element.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services.

My replacement element did not come with any additional red wires or wire nuts. Where can I get the wires that you are referring to that were supose to come with the heating element?

A:

CRas: Here is the part number of the heating element wire with wire nut. It appears this kit only includes one wire and one wire nut so you will need to order two. The part number is 279457. Remember to order two. Or, you can contact the source you ordered the heating element from and tell them the heater assembly was missing the two red wire leads and the two wire nuts and maybe they will ship right out.
