Q:

Why won't the timer advance on my Kenmore dryer?

A:

You did not indicate whether the timer fails to advance in the auto cycle or the timed cycle. If the timer does not advance in either cycle, then you likely have a failed timer motor. In this case, the timer would need to be replaced. The timer for this dryer is no longer available.

If the timer will advance in the timed cycle and not in the auto cycle, then you could have a failed resistor (Key 31 in the image below). This part (279872) is available and can be ordered from Sears PartsDirect www.searspartsdirect.com . Replacing this part would likely fix your problem given these circumstances.

A wiring problem could also prevent the timer from advancing.

If you need more help with this problem, resubmit your question with additional details.
