Question and Answers

Q:

Gas dryer stops running after 1 load is half dryed and won't restart only buzzies if I try to restart it. 11076932692 Kenmore Gas dryer

A:

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when there is trouble with the dryer.

Glad to help out.   Im  looking at your Kenmore Gas Dryer model number 11076932692.

First thing for safety and concerns to keep dryer running well is to check the lint screen and vent of air flow going out of the house.   If clogged up it could cause heating problems on any dryer.

To prevent a Blocked Vent Hood, once a year:

1.  Clean any lint blockage from the exhaust vent hood.
2.  Make sure the vent hood flappers move freely.
3.  Check for screen/grate openings that allow bird or rodent nests.
4.  Replace exhaust vent hood if damaged.
5.  Check for good air flow while running the dryer.
Note: Poor airflow or decreased airflow indicates further vent system cleaning is needed.

When you get the clothes out of the washer.   Are they rinsed and spun well?  Just want to make sure the washer has done its job first.

If the dryer acts likes it's getting no power, the motor could be overheating and shutting off on the motor thermal overload if it will start after it sits and cools down for awhile. It may need a motor or the motor could be overheating because the motor may be covered in lint.

If the motor makes a humming noise when start is pushed, open the door and manually rotate the drum in a counter clockwise direction and then shut the door and see if will start.

If it starts, I suspect a faulty motor and it will need to be replaced. Make sure the door is shut or the dryer will not start.

NOTE: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before servicing your dryer.

Hi Larry L Thanks for all your help. The dryer did have a faulty motor. I ordered the part and installed it my self. Now it's back to running like it did when it was new. I do enjoy working on things myself but this time I taught my son (18 year old) how to take it apart, fix it and put it back together. Maybe he will start working on things more, for when he moves out and not ask me to do it for him. Thanks Again TLM

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Based on your symptom the door switch is likely faulty. The door switch should make and break the Neutral supply to the motor. It should stop the motor when the door is opened. Check the door switch operation.

I added the wiring diagram in the image below.

Thank you for a good description of the symptoms. From what you're describing I suspect the igniter or voltage to the igniter is the problem. You will need to access the front lower panel & use an ohmmeter to make the diagnosis with. I am sending you a link that covers this same symptom. Remember to disconnect power before attempting access & use extreme caution when working with voltage.

Please click on the link below for access & repair instructions.

My gas dryer, kenmore elite # 110.73032102 wont heat.
