Q:

11076930100 dryer 11076930100

A:

We took dryer apart & have access to the motor. What parts of the motor could be non-functioning? Is there a switch, solenoid or is it the motor itself?

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when there is problems with the dryer.

Glad to help out.   Im  looking at your Kenmore Dryer model number 11076930100.

Based on your symptom and details it indicates a bad motor. When you find it not starting; open the door and manually rotate the drum in a counter clockwise direction and then shut the door and press start. If it starts, this is a good indication the motor is failing and will need to be replaced.

The buzz could be from the timer motor, when the push to start button is pressed.

Check also the thermal fuse found off the blower.  You can check this fuse (with the dryer still unplugged) by removing one wire and measuring the resistance across the leads of the component with a multimeter. You should measure near zero ohms of resistance (closed). If you measure infinite resistance (open), then the fuse is blown and will need to be replaced.

Thank you for your understanding in this matter and I hope we can help you with your future questions and repairs.  Thank you for choosing Sears and using our SearsPartsDirect.com.

We did what you suggested. Put everything back together. Put in a small load for drying. After 5-10 minutes checked to see if the heat was working. Opened the door, clothes seemed to be drying well, closed door, pushed button & got the buzz again. Does this mean the motor is shot? If so, can you please give me the proper part number[s] to order replacement. Thank you.

Thanks for contacting ManageMyLife.com. I understand how frustrating it is having trouble with your dryer getting too hot. We are here to help. The high limit thermostat opens around 250 degrees. There is more that on thermostat in a dryer. To test the thermostat, a multimeter need to be hooked up to it. Next, heat up the thermostat with something in which you know the temperature. If it does not open up at the correct temperature, it is bad. I provide you a schematic in the diagram below to help you correct the problem. I hope this helps.
