Question and Answers

Q:

Why does my Kenmore dryer model 110.76914693 complete 1 dryer cycle and then require 30 minutes to cool down before starting it again?

A:

The disassembly procedure for this type of dryer is shown in the images below. Be sure that you unplug the dryer and shut off the gas supply before beginning this process. You may find lint build-up around the motor that is preventing it from cooling properly. You could also have a bad bearing in the motor that is preventing it from continuing to run properly.

Q:

I just ordered a new start switch for my Kenmore gas dryer and need to know if you have directions?

A:

To replace the start switch, unplug the dryer and follow these steps:

  1. Pull the knob and clip (Keys 21 and 4 in the image below) off of the start switch.
  2. Remove the plastic end cap from each side of the console (Keys 36 and 38 in the image below).
  3. Remove the screw (Key 12) on each side of the console that secures it to the top panel.
  4. Pull the console slightly forward to release the clips and then hinge it up and back over the top of the back dryer panel to rest it in the service position.
  5. Pull the wires off of the start switch (Key 5). Make sure that you have the dryer unplugged when pulling off the wires.
  6. Remove and replace the switch.
Reverse the process for reassembly.

Start switches rarely fail in dryers. If your dryer still will not start after replacing the switch, resubmit your question with additional details if you need more help with this dryer problem.
