Q:

replacing belt 11076902690 Kenmore Gas dryer

A:

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when there is help needed with the dryer.

Glad to help out.   Im  looking at your Kenmore model number 110.76902690.

How to change the belt:

1.  Unplug the dryer from the wall. Turn off the gas supply to the dryer by closing the gas shutoff valve. The valve will be located near your dryer, usually just in back of the dryer. Wait around 10 to 15 minutes for any residual gas to dissipate from the dryer.

2.  Remove the lint screen from the dryer. Remove the two screws inside the lint screen cavity.

3.  Slide a putty knife under the top panel, near the left side of the dryer. Lift up on the putty knife to pry loose the left-side retaining clip.  Do again on the  the right side. Lift the top panel up and rotate it toward the back of the dryer.

4.  Undo the door switch wires from the wiring harness just inside the dryer. Remove the screws along the inside edge of the front panel. Pull the top of the front panel towards you and lift up the panel to disengage the lower retaining clips. Then slide the front to the side of the dryer.

5.  Unplug the door switch wires from the wiring harness just inside the dryer. Then remove the screws along the inside edge of the front panel. Pull the top of the front panel toward you and lift up the panel to disengage the lower retaining clips. Slide the front to the side of the dryer.

6.  Slide a new belt over the drumv shape down. Loop the belt around the motor pulley and also over the idler pulley. The belt should run from the right side of the drum and cross over the idler pulley. It should then loop around the motor pulley and run up the left side of the drum. Spin the drum by hand a few times to center the belt.

7.  Replacing the parts in reverse to get the dryer going again.

If you have further questions please let me know.

Thanks for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

Q:

I was cleaning the lint from around the motor and flue of my Kenmore dryer and found a part laying on the bottom of the dryer.

A:

Knowing where the part goes is important. I found a parts schematic of the burner assembly that I am hoping will help you until your expert answers your question. I am adding a link below for the burner assembly for you. It may take 24-48 hours for your expert to answer your question. I do hope all goes well.

Thanks for the link. I had gone to that site before but couldn't identify the piece that I had found. However, in searching a bit deeper, I may have found it. In a detailed view of the Radiant Sensor, the photo shows what might be a glass window between the sensor and the mount. I had to remove the sensor and the glass might have dropped out.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Based on your model and description the piece of glass had come off from the flame sensor/radiant sensor. I added an image below of the radiant sensor and its location. It is mounted on the side of the burner cone and I have never seen the small glass pane fall out of one before. I'm not sure if the glass pane can be reinstalled. It fits between the metal bracket and the sensor. The glass prevents the open flame from contacting the contact switch inside the housing. I recommend replacing the flame/radiant sensor and call it fixed.

The radiant sensor #228906 for Kenmore gas dryer model 110.76902690 can be ordered from Sears Parts Direct.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

the glass pane did indeed come from behind the radiant sensor. I was able to remove the sensor (very easy), insert the glass pane in the foot of the sensor, and reinstall the sensor. thanks for the input.

A:

From what you’re describing it sounds like the motor. If the motor switch contacts short together the motor will hum & won’t start. The start switch is out of the circuit if 5M & 6M contacts of the motor switch arc & weld together; shutting the door completes the circuit to send power to the motor since the start switch is not involved at this time. First; disconnect power to the dryer. I recommend replacing the motor; 279787 $133.97 www.searspartsdirect.com
