Question and Answers

Why is my dryer not drying properly.?

If the dryer is heating and you have to run it 2 more cycles to get the clothes dry then most likely the dryer is short cycling the heat and advancing the timer to fast.

On this dryer the timer is controlled be a resistor that gates the voltage to the timer. In the automatic cycle when the heat is on the timer doesn't advance. When the thermostat shuts the heat off then the resistor allows the timer to advance.

There are two things to check for this problem. Run the dryer in time dry and see if the results are better. Time dry should run the time selected and if you select 60 minutes the dryer should run 60 minutes. If time dry short cycles then most likely the timer needs to be replaced.

Pull the vent off the back of the dryer. A restricted vent will cause the heat to short cycle and cause the dryer to shut down before the clothes are dry.

If you have a thermometer you can check the temperature of the air in the exhaust. On high heat the air in the exhaust should cycle between 135 degrees to 160 degrees.

If you don't have a thermometer then you can run a medium load with the vent off and see if the dryer dries better. If the dryer dries better the vent is restricted and needs to be cleaned out.

Don't continue to use the dryer with the vent off.

I hope this information helps to resolve this problem but if you have any other questions then submit another question with any additional details for further assistance with this problem.
