Q:

Why won't my gas dryer heat?

A:

The timer will not advance when set on automatic dry if it will not heat. It should however advance on timed dry regardless if it will heat or not. I added an image of the wiring diagram so that you see which components are connected in series with the gas valve assembly. Each one of the components will need to be tested for continuity with an ohm meter. I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your dryer.

There could be one of many possible component failures preventing you dryer from heating:

  • Timer
  • High limit thermostat
  • Thermal cutoff
  • Operating thermostat
  • Thermal fuse
  • Ignitor
  • Flame sensor
  • Solenoid coils
