Question and Answers

Why does my Kenmore dryer model 110.76680100 not heat and the drum does not turn?

If the motor is running but the drum is not turning the most likely cause would be a broken belt.

If the dryer is not heating and the motor is running then the problem of not heating can be caused by several different parts.

First I recommend checking the belt. Unplug the power cord so no voltage is present then remove the lint filter and remove the two screws located under it. Don't let them fall into the lint opening.

Push in with a putty knife about 2 inches in from the front corners between the top and front panel to release two clips and the top will lift up and is hinged in the rear. You should be able to see the belt around the drum.

The lower access panel removes by releasing the two top clips with a putty knife and the lower panel will pull out and up off the bottom clips.

The dryer rear panel can be removed to access the thermostats and the heating element.

You will need a volt/ohm meter and be comfortable and confident in using it to check continuity across the operating thermostat on the blower housing and hi-limit thermostat on the element housing. You can also check the element for continuity.

The belt is part number 341241 and is available from the following link: Sears PartsDirect .

The image below contains the instructions for changing the belt.
