Question and Answers

Q:

Why is my Kenmore dryer running but not heating?

A:

I’m not sure what you’re calling heating elements but a gas dryer does not have any heating elements.

You will need to check the voltage going to the igniter with the unit running with a volt meter. If you read 120volts the igniter is bad, if you do not have 120volts you will need to use the meter to find out where the voltage loss is coming from. All of the components from red on the timer to the flame sensor have to show closed, 0 resistance. The flame sensor #27 should also read closed. If you find an open thermal fuse #9 or thermal cutoff #17, be sure to check for a restricted exhaust vent.

Remember to always use extreme caution when working with live voltage.
