A:

Why does my Kenmore dryer, model number 110.76512695 have no heat?

There could be several causes of your dryer to not heat:

  • Broken igniter
  • Flame sensor
  • Thermal fuse
  • Electronic control board
  • Heater relay
  • Thermistor
  • Gas valve coils
  • Motor switch
  • High limit thermostat
  • Temperature switch

Due to the complexity of this model dryer I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your dryer.

Q:

Is my dryer heating failure caused by a bad thermostat or a gas problem?

A:

The theory of operation for the gas valve assembly is shown in the first image below. The second image shows the wiring diagram for your dryer. Since the igniter is glowing, it is likely that you have weak gas valve coils that are causing this heating problem. The gas valve coils are likely strong enough to initially open the gas valves since they are cold at start-up. Once they heat up after the first ignition, they are not strong enough to open the gas valves on subsequent ignition attempts. Based on your symptoms, it is likely that you will need to replace these gas valve coils. There is a kit available from the Sears PartsDirect website that contains both coils. The part number for this kit 279834. It costs less than ordering the coils separately.

These tips should help you resolve this dryer problem. If you need more help, resubmit your question with additional details.

Q:

Why does my Kenmore dryer stop heating?

A:

All of the components up to the igniter have to be working or the unit will not heat at all. If the igniter comes on & goes off without lighting the burner then we know that you have weak gas valve coils, bad gas valve or no gas. I suspect the gas valve coils need replaced.

If the igniter does not come on at all we will need to use a volt/ohm meter for more testing.

Please see the images provided that explain how to replace the gas valve coils; kit part number 279834
