Q:

convert dryer from LP back to Natural Gas

A:

I did a model specific search and did not find information on the conversion you're interested in. I broadened my search and have included a link below that will offer many different links that focus on the converting process in general. By reviewing these different links, you will be able to develop a working theory on what you will need to do. Also keep in mind that an expert will respond to you within the next day or two. I hope this is helpful for you and have a nice day.

You may find the original natural gas parts (orifice and natural gas vent cap for the regulator) on the back of the dryer if it was properly converted by a qualified installer. You can check that location first.

Note: This natural gas conversion should be completed by a qualified installer.

If you cannot find the natural gas orifice and regulator vent cap, then you can order those parts from this page: Sears PartsDirect . The part number for the natural gas orifice is 234826. The natural gas limiter vent cap is part 694424.

The general process for converting the dryer back to natural gas is to reverse the procedure that is shown in the LP conversion instruction that I posted below. The LP orifice will need to be changed back to the natural gas orifice. The LP blocking pin cap will need to be removed from the regulator and the natural gas limiter cap will need to be installed. The installer can use the procedure shown in the first image to remove the bottom front service panel in order to access the gas burner assembly. The installer will probably not have to remove the front panel as shown in the LP conversion procedure. The installer should unplug the dryer and shut off the gas supply before accessing internal components.

This should be the information that you need to have that dryer converted back to natural gas. If you need more help, reply with additional details.

Contact your local gas supplier for a qualified installer to complete this conversion. You may also be able to find a pre-screened service provider on the ServiceLive.com website.

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life. I know how frustrating it can be when appliances do not function properly.

There are several components that could cause this issue. I have included the beginning checks in an image below, however, the diagnosis of this problem will require the use of an ohm/volt meter and you will have to perform ohm checks and/or live voltage checks. If you have an ohm/volt meter and are confident in your technical abilities, please reply below and I will be happy to give you the checks.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

This heating problem could be caused by weak gas valve coils or a problem with the heater relay in the console.

Here is a link for a previous answer that describes some of the diagnosis that you can perform for this problem:

Why won't the burner ignite on my Kenmore gas dryer model 110.74992300?

The thermal fuse is not blown on your dryer since the burner initially ignites. You could have a problem with the relay or the control board if the igniter does not continue to glow and fade off after the first ignition. If the igniter is glowing, then the heater relay is probably okay. If the igniter glows as fades off as described in the theory of operation, then you probably have bad gas valve coils (part 279834). You can order the gas valve coil kit (part 279834) from the Sears PartsDirect website.

These tips may help you fix this dryer heating problem. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details.

This dryer can be difficult to diagnose and repair. If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
