A:

Diagnosing the issue with dryer not heating can be difficult. While you wait for the expert to review your model, you can check a similar question from a previous expert post if you like. I attached the link below. If you do decide to have a technician diagnose and make repairs, an option is to visit Sears Home Services and use the handy scheduler.Hope this helps!

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

The first thing to check is the vent system; if the vent system is restricted it will cause the burner to shut off before it reaches operating temperature. For testing purposes only; disconnect the vent hose from the back of the dryer and then see how long the burner stays on. If it stays on until it reaches operating temperature, this would confirm a restricted vent system. Do not leave the vent hose disconnected and then use the dryer.

If the flame continues to shut off in 10 seconds, I would suspect a faulty a high limit thermostat located on the side of the heater box. There is also a thermal cut off located on the side of the heater box near the top but the high limit is the one mounted below the thermal cut off.

Also, do not operate the dryer with the front panel off because the high limit would shut the burner off quickly because the flame would not be drawn into the heater box and into the drum.

This may be the issue. If not, please reply and I will be glad to assist you further.

Q:

Why won’t my Kenmore dryer get hot?

A:

If the igniter is not coming on we need to start checking components with a volt/ohm meter until we find the voltage loss. All of the components in the path of voltage to the igniter have to be checked with a meter for continuity. I have outlined the voltage path in the image provided below. If you find an open thermal fuse be sure to check for a blocked vent before replacing.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

SAFETY NOTICE: Be sure to disconnect power to the appliance before performing any repairs. If you are not comfortable with doing any voltage checks that might be recommended, please contact your local service provider for repairs. Be aware that there could be sharp edges inside the appliance that could cause cuts or other injuries to yourself or others.

Q:

What causes my Kenmore 80 Series model number 110.72852101 to blow cold air out?

A:

Core Issue: What causes my Kenmore 80 Series model number 110.72852101 to blow cold air out?

Your dryer has a plastic plug in the front panel on the lower left side. Remove the plug and set the dryer on high heat. Look through the opening where the plug was and see if the ignitor is glowing. If it is glowing it will light up the bottom of the dryer, you can't miss it.

If the dryer is not glowing, it is probably not functioning. It is a ceramic igniter, and if it is bad it will be cracked and usually black where it burned out. You can access it by removing the front of the dryer.
