Q:

Kenmore 80 series dryer. The light inside went out even after i changed the bulb, and the dryer doesn't stop when i open the door. Could it just be a fuse ?

A:

This type of problem is normally caused by a failed door switch. The circuit for the light and the door switch is shown in the first image below. When the door is closed, the switch is in the position as shown below. It will complete the neutral circuit for the dryer motor to run. When the door is opened, it should complete the neutral circuit for the light that is traced in green and should open the circuit between the blue and white wire so that the motor will stop since the neutral circuit is interrupted. Your symptoms indicate that the door switch is stuck in the position shown below. Replacing the door switch (part 3406107) should fix this problem. You can order this part from the Sears PartsDirect website. The procedure for accessing and replacing the door switch is shown in the second image below. Be sure that you unplug the dryer to disconnect electrical power before accessing internal components.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Q:

Why is my Kenmore model 11072824101 gas dryer not drying?

A:

Why is my Kenmore model 11072824101 dryer not drying?

I assume that you're saying that the dryer will run but is not producing any heat.

There could be several causes of your dryer to not heat:

  • Broken igniter

  • Flame sensor

  • Thermal fuse

  • Electronic control board

  • Heater relay

  • Thermistor

  • Gas valve coils

  • Motor switch

  • High limit thermostat

  • Temperature switch

Due to the complexity of this model dryer I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your dryer.

Resubmit your question for more specific information if your dryer still won't produce heat.
