Q:

Kenmore Gas Dryer Model 11072822100 wont stay hot.

A:

It can be very frustrating when your dryer begins to malfunction and not heat properly. I did some research and provided a link to a similar question and answer on our site. i hope this will shed a little more light on the issue until the Expert responds to your question in more detail within 24 to 48 hours.

The problem is most likely with the gas coils or gas valve since it does heat the one time. If a gas dryer heats at all then the thermal fuse is likely okay. The key to the problem is knowing what the ignitor is doing. There is a small square plug on the left side of the front panel. You can pry this out and visually check if the ignitor continues to glow and click off with no flame. A gas valve can work a cycle or two then stop working. If the ignitor continues to glow and click off with no flame then the gas valve or coils are likely the problem. If can be difficult to determine which is bad since the dryer will heat once. Pull the plug and check what the ignitor is doing and reply with additional details for further assistance.

I realize this is an old conversation, but I'm hoping that someone can still help. My dryer is having the same problem as the original poster. I've checked all relevant sensors, thermostat, and valve coils for continuity or resistance and they all seem to be fine. I'm going to check the coils again, though, because I had used an analog multimeter, and I was told that digital is more accurate. The igniter looks fine: a flame is established when I start a cycle; the flame stays on for a few minutes and then turns off; the igniter then glows and clicks off with no flame, and this keeps happening every couple minutes; if I leave the dryer alone for a few hours and then start another cycle, a flame will ignite the first time, then turn off, and the glowing and clicking off cycle happens all over again.

Q:

Removing rust from dryer top 11072822100 Kenmore Dryer

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for using SearsPartsDirect.com.
If the rust spots are only surface rust (which I imagine they would be), it should be a pretty straight forward fix.
I would start by lightly sanding the spots on the dryer until the rust is removed and the area is smooth. You may have to start with a coarser grit and move to a finer grit to get the smoothness desired. From there you can purchase a bottle of touch-up paint that is model specific. This unit came in two colors, bisque or white. For convenience, I have provided blue links below for either option.

White Touch-Up Paint

Bisque Touch-Up Paint

Hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.
