Question and Answers

Q:

What portions of the model number matter?

A:

I know how important it is to have as much useful information about your appliance as possible so that it is easier to find replacement parts and part numbers. While you are waiting for an expert answer, I did manage to find a link in where you can enter your model number and the owners manual from the Manage My Life website. Hope this helps!

That's the same link that I posted on my original question. I have a model 110.74082201. The web site shows this particular manual applying for 11072082101, 11074084200 and 11074082200 (and others) One model ends in 2101 instead of 2201. One model ends in 84200 instead of 82201. One model ends in 2200 instead of 2201. The manual seems close, but I'm not sure...

Hi John,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life. I know how frustrating it can be when appliances do not function properly.

The first 5 digits after the "110." are the ones that really matter as far as for the Owners' manual. The link you added is to an Owners' Manual for the same type of dryer.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Thanks again for using Manage My Life.

The E1 error message means the thermistor is shorted and will need to be replaced.

The 8577274 thermistor can be obtained from the following link: Sears PartsDirect for about $26 dollars.

The image below will show you how to access and change the thermistor. Remember to unplug the dryer first.

The thermistor can be checked with a meter. It should show 1100 ohms resistance at room temperature.

You can reply with any additional questions or details for further assistance.

The E1 code indicates a bad thermistor which is located on the blower housing in the front of the dryer.

The only way to check the thermistor is to use a meter to check resistance across the thermistor.

The 8577274 thermistor cost about $26 dollars and can be obtained from the following link: Sears PartsDirect .

The image below will help you access it if you wish to do-it-yourself. Remember to unplug the dryer first.

I hope this helps and thanks for the question. You can reply with any additional details for further assistance.
