Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

It would be unusual to smell something burning on a gas dryer if it's not able to heat. I suggest disconnecting the power cord from the power source and then remove the front lower access panel. See image below for instructions for removing the lower panel. Visually inspect all the wiring for any signs of being burnt. If all the wiring looks Okay, plug the dryer in and start the dryer and select a heated dry cycle. After a few seconds you should see the glow bar igniter begin to glow red. If you find it glowing and then fading off without burner ignition, the two solenoid coils on the gas valve are weak and will need to be replaced.

Try to determine where the burning odor is emitting from. It could also be coming from a faulty control board located inside the control panel.

Check the things I have covered here and if I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Any of the current Kenmore top load or front load washers will generally match this dryer in the white color. The console logos of the current models will be slightly different. Here is a Sears.com link for one example of a current top load washer that will match your dryer: Kenmore White 3.5 cu. ft. Capacity Top-Load Washer - 2110 .

I will include my personal opinion in this answer. I recommend that you consider this high efficiency front load washer even though it cost more: Kenmore White High Efficiency 4.0 cu. ft. Capacity Front Load Washer . This model is a direct drive front load washer that is very dependable. It will spin the water out of the clothes better and save you the extra money that you spend due to shorter dry times. I have a similar model of front load washer and have personally realized this savings.
