Question and Answers

Q:

Gas burner turns on, stays on for a minute than turns off 11070992990 Kenmore Gas dryer

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I will be happy to help with your dryer. Upon researching model number 11070992990; there could be an issue with the gas valve. The fuses and thermostats usually prevent the igniter from heating up if they are bad. The coils can cause this kind of symptom but they have been replaced.

Thank you for choosing Sears. We appreciate your business. Have a great day.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

The first thing to check is to see if the glow bar igniter will glow red or not. You will need to remove the front lower access panel. I added a couple of images with below to reference. If the igniter is glowing and fading off without burner ignition, replace the two solenoid coils sitting on top of the gas valve and dryer will likely heat again.

If the glow bar igniter is not glowing; it could have one of several possible component failures:

  • Evenheat control board
  • Heater relay
  • Faulty thermal fuse
  • High limit thermostat
  • Flame sensor
  • Broken igniter
The evenheat control board must supply 48 volts DC to the heater relay in order to close and complete the 120 volt circuit to the igniter. See wiring diagram below. When the heater relay closes, the two red wires will make and compete the circuit through the relay.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.
