Question and Answers

Q:

I have power to the Thermostat, internal bias - How does the wiring go from there. Do I replace the Thermal Fuse also? 11070904990 Kenmore Gas dryer

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I will be happy to help with your dryer. Upon researching model 11070904990; it sounds like there could be an issue with the thermal fuse and/or thermostat. We have a kit that includes both. I recommend just replacing both if one is out. You could test the fuse for continuity. There is an access panel under the door. A putty knife and cloth rag is needed. Wrap the rag over the putty knife. Push the putty knife in between the access panel and the door frame in line with the clips. The clips are key number 46 in the diagram. Click here for the diagram.

Thank you for choosing Sears. We appreciate your business. Have a great day.

Q:

What would cause my dryer to sometimes not start and just hum loudly?

A:

From the description of your symptom the motor is not able to start and rotate the drum. Most likely it's a motor problem. When this happens, open the door and see how difficult it is to manually rotate the drum counter clockwise (ccw). If it feels rather hard to turn most likely the motor bearing/bushing is bad and the motor would need to be replaced.

I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your dryer.
