Changing the coils was a good try. The key to the problem is knowing what the ignitor is doing. If the ignitor continues to glow and click off then repeat with no flame the coils or valve are the usual suspects. There is a small square plug on the front panel that can be pried out. You can visually check what the ignitor is doing. When the glowing ignitor clicks off that is when to expect flame. I hope this helps. You can reply with additional details for further assistance.

If you have a gas dryer you are correct that there is no red wire. If the instructions are referring to a red wire it is most likely talking about the electric dryer which would have two red wires.

Remember to unplug the dryer first.

The gas dryer motor will only have three wires hooked up to it. The wiring diagram in the image below should help you with this.

The gas dryer motor will only have 3 wires hooked up to it. The electric dryer motor has 5 wire, 2 red wires on terminal 1 and 2 of the motor.

The gas dryer does not use terminal 1 or 2.

Use caution checking the motor after installation. No loose or bare wires touching metal.

This may give you a start to completing this project but if there are other details then I may be able to assist you further.

Q:

What is wrong with my Kenmore model 110.70702991 gas dryer that will run non stop unless you open the door?

A:

From the description you give the most likely cause of a gas dryer to run continuously until the door is open is a bad timer.

A timer contact is responsible for the timer to advance through the cycle.

You don't mention any other problems such as not heating but it everything works but the timer never advances then most likely the timer will have to be replaced to fix this problem.

The timer is part number 3976577 and is available from the following link: Sears PartsDirect .

You can remove the rear console access panel, after unplugging the dryer, and check for a loose orange wire to the timer. If the wires are all okay then replacing the timer should fix this problem.
